I love the word "gospel." It is fresh. It is alive. It is real. It is simple. No other religion, no political philosophy has come close to encapsulating its message in just one word. Why is it so powerful? It is powerful because of the single greatest event in all of human history... the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Some good news gets old. Not the story of Jesus and His love. It is so powerful it will literally arrest people in their tracks. We have abundant testimonies of people ready to commit suicide, horrible crimes or abuse whose lives were totally transformed hearing the old, old story of Jesus and His love.
For them it was brand new.
Fresh.
The good news is... Christ was not a religious martyr. He has an empty tomb! The gospel is alive because he is alive! He does today what he did 2,000 years ago. He delivers... He heals... He sets free... and He gives peace and joy.
The gospel is not complicated. The gospel message is so simple. Someone said, "Simplicity is truth's most becoming garment." We don't need to dress the truth up, apologize for it or dilute it. We need to tell it plainly. The Holy Spirit will do His miracle work in their hearts.
After the people in a village see our powerful Life of Christ film, the team members simply ask them to put their trust in the One who died for their sins, who rose again for their justification and who now offers them everlasting life. Lives are transformed by His power!
Does it seem too simple? Could it really be that easy? Thank God it is just that! While we humans often have an uncanny way of making the simple complex, God makes the complex simple!
And we can have faith in Him to give us confidence in the power of simply telling the gospel story — as our 276 mobile film teams in India will witness in 2,760 film showings this month. Hallelujah!
