I Will Build My Church

A personal message from John Gilman

Today in India, an evangelism explosion is going on. I want you to understand it — and pray for it!

We are seeing phenomenal church growth. God has used our Good Shepherd film teams and our all-Indian acted Life of Christ motion picture Dayasagar (Oceans of Mercy) to birth a whole church movement across this nation.

Currently we have over 2,000 spiritually vibrant, culturally relevant, self-producing churches in our Good Shepherd Community Church group. Our national leaders all agree that at the current rate, thousands of churches (congregations with 25 or more adults) will be birthed in the coming decade.

A nation that has worshipped idols for 3,500 years, and still practices the diabolical caste system that oppresses hundreds of millions, is being shaken by a young church rising in the midst of its idolatry to offer life, hope and dignity.

Our Good Shepherd Community Churches are also responsible for more than 30,000 home groups who are being taught to love, worship and obey the Lamb of God.

And though some of these communities of believers regularly face persecution, they look to one another for support and strength. And they are multiplying almost daily. It is nothing less than the New Testament church all over again. (See Acts 8:1-4)

Harvest time is here now in India. Please keep praying for this young Indian church and for the Lord of the harvest to send laborers quickly. The impact of this movement is going to result in millions more coming to faith in Christ.

In this issue of The Global Villager you will read about Jesus’ master plan and the simple secret that will transform the spiritual landscape of India forever.

Rev 15:4 best describes what is happening, “All nations will come and worship before you ...” It is happening now. Thank you for being part of it!

No one knew about persecution more than the Apostle Paul: shipwrecked, poisoned, imprisoned in chains, three times beaten to the point of death and finally having his head cut off. Why would an educated man like Paul, a citizen of the Roman Empire, sit still for this kind of treatment? Read More
"I will stand on my guard post and station myself on the rampart; and I will keep watch to see what He will speak to me, and how I may reply when I am reproved. Night after night villagers behold a story they have never heard before.
We call our newsletter Global Villager because most people in developing nations actually live in villages. Over 600 million of India's one billion people live in villages. During the course of 27 years of ministry in India, my love and respect for the villagers has greatly grown. Read More
